Chicago may have the title of “The Windy City”, but certainly Oklahoma (and many of the plains states) can contend for the title of “The Windy State”.  A seemingly endless stream of wind constantly blows through the region.  Although we all may be used to it by now (or at least ignore it), the wind can have some serious consequences for grape growers — from damaged vines to toppled trellis’ to poor fruit set.  For more information on the effects of wind on grapevines take a look here:
