We all know, or at should know by now, that one of serious issues we deal with as grape growers is clean plant material.  Various insects and diseases, especially crown gall, PD, and viruses, are moved around the country because of contaminated source material.  This is not an easy problem to rectify; however, some agencies are doing their best to try.  Read this latest article in Wines and Vines about the Foundation Plant Services and the work Dr. Golino (and others) are doing to make clean plant material available in the future.

Oh, and as a reminder — don’t give away cuttings of your own vines so that someone else can start their own commercial vineyard.  Of course this is a cheap way to get started — but you also get what you pay for.
