I am back from meetings and such with a mountain of things to do.  Today I will give an update on the grape and wine industry to several county educators at an in-service training.  Many of the county educators deal with grape growers at some point, but nearly all of them have little or no knowledge of viticulture or enology.  Most county educators have an agronomic or animal science background.  There are a few that have a horticulture education, but even those educators more than likely studied ornamental crops.  So, don’t get too frustrated with these folks.  Most of them know enough to contact me with any in-depth questions.  They are a valuable resource for you though, as they are intimately aware of the specific conditions (soil, water, pests, etc) that are prevalent in their county.
